16th May 2010 will go down as a sad day in rock music, with the passing of legend Ronnie James Dio.

Currently, the internet is going crazy with tributes to the frontman of Black Sabbath. Elf, Rainbow, Heaven & Hell and Dio during a career spanning over 53 years.

Among many other quotes, Twisted Sister’s guitarist Jay Jay French perhaps sums it up best: "He possessed one of the greatest voices in all of heavy metal, and had a heart to match it. He was the nicest, classiest person you would ever want to meet."

The world of rock has lost a gifted and truly influential figure. RIP Mr Dio. Thank you for the music.
