Work, no rest and play
I can’t believe how busy the past few months have been for me! Never being one to shy from work-related challenges, I have taken on so many projects this year, resulting in a scheduling nightmare and a complete abandonment of the concept of free time.
This isn’t me complaining. Creatively speaking, I am in an amazing place. The comic Steve Martin once wrote that writer’s block is something you work through, and this is a sentiment I share. Tight deadlines are always inspiring – they remove the option to dally and procrastinate, and, speaking personally, if other people are setting those deadlines, all the better.
I always set deadlines for my own releases, but these invariably have to be extended when other imperatives impose on my time.
This means that my next solo album is probably not going to be finished until late next year. In the meantime, I am aiming to release a solo EP in the next couple of months, which will be available exclusively from my shop.
More immediately, I have just finished the title track to another movie. The movie (and the title track) are called Ten Year Itch. The song will be available exclusively from my shop in a few days. In all likelihood, I will be writing an album’s worth of material for the film, which will be available upon completion.
The movie is set to start production later this year.
